Things to do in Sri Lanka. A journey that feels like you.
Surf mornings, wildlife landscapes, walks in the hills or time with the island’s stories. Choose a few experiences you care about, then build the route around them.
SEVEN WAYS TO BEGIN
What would you like to make time for?
You do not need to fit everything into one trip. Start with two or three priorities and leave room between them.
A first lesson in Weligama and a surf-focused stay in Arugam Bay ask different things of your trip. Start with your experience, then choose the coast and the time to spend there.
Before you choose: Match your travel month and ability to the break; conditions vary within the same coast.
Choose between Yala, Udawalawe and Wilpattu by the landscapes and wildlife that interest you, as well as where the park fits in your journey. Give the outing time rather than treating it as a quick stop.
Before you choose: Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. Discuss park access, vehicle arrangements and time in the jeep.
An Ella viewpoint walk, Horton Plains circuit and Sri Pada pilgrimage are different commitments. Choose the walking you enjoy and leave room for changing weather and a rest afterward.
Before you choose: Steps, uneven ground and the descent matter too. Plan around everyone travelling with you.
Explore the ancient cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya’s rock landscape, Dambulla’s cave temples or the streets of Galle Fort. These places reward a slower visit, not just a photograph.
Before you choose: Allow for walking and heat, and confirm dress requirements at religious sites. A local guide can add context.
Think about what a beach stay means to you: time by the water, a small coastal base or a quieter stretch of sand. Compare the southern coast with Nilaveli and Pasikudah before choosing where to finish.
Before you choose: Choose the coast around your dates. A beautiful beach photograph does not establish safe swimming conditions.
Around Nuwara Eliya, tea landscapes are part of the journey as well as a reason to stop. A factory visit or tasting can help connect the views with the people and work behind Ceylon tea.
Before you choose: Confirm visiting arrangements with the estate. A working factory’s schedule may differ from visitor opening times.

Food & city life
Leave space for an everyday discovery.
A meal stop can be a highlight in its own right. In Colombo, combine time around Pettah’s trading streets with a taste of kottu or a relaxed meal, instead of rushing straight through the city.
Before you choose: Tell us about dietary needs, the flavours you enjoy and whether you prefer busy markets or a quieter table.
Explore the 3D map, open destination photos and add stops in the order you have in mind. Share the route on WhatsApp to start a conversation about what fits your time.
The map is a starting point for discussion, not a driving-time estimate or confirmed itinerary.
These can be part of one journey, but the coast, travel dates and days available matter. Choose your priorities first and discuss the route before adding every experience to a short trip.
What if I do not know where to go yet?
Start with your interests, approximate trip length and who is travelling. You can browse the photos and guides here or share a few ideas with us; an itinerary is not required to start a conversation.
Are the activities included in a private driver arrangement?
Do not assume that activity tickets, safari jeeps, surf lessons or specialist guides are included. Discuss each arrangement and its inclusions in your personal quote before confirming.
Can we plan around children or a slower pace?
Share ages, walking comfort, rest needs and any fixed accommodation. Our family planning guide helps you think through the practical choices.
